Models wait in line before their audition

Max Apartments was brimming with models this Wednesday, all auditioning for the opportunity to strut down the runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Joburg this Spring/ Summer season. Former model and casting director, Andiswa Manxiwa, and creative director, Jan Malan, appeared determined to make sure that Fashion Week is a success. Jan and Andiswa scrutinised every inch of every model as each one paced back and forth, pausing only to strike a pose. No pressure. I did not envy Jan or Andiswa though, as each candidate seemed perfectly modelesque to my amateur eye, in all their beautiful variety.

As the models continued to flood in, I kept an eye out for one model in particul16_04_09_The Edit-15ar, Anri Pretorius. Anri modelled for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Joburg in March this year and has since cat-walked her way to some early success. She eventually showed up looking cheerful and fresh-faced, ready to do what she does best. I caught up with her to find out more about what she has been up to and she was happy to oblige. So look out for an exclusive interview with Anri.

All in all, the model casting for Joburg was a success. Today the casting has migrated to Cape Town. The Insider is looking forward to seeing which of our coastal avatars will grace the catwalk this year.

Goodluck!
