Ensconced in the hilly Cape Dutch valleys of Franschhoek is a centuries-old vineyard, one of the oldest of its kind in South Africa – Boschendal. Since 1685, Boschendal has come to be known for its premium wines, luxury branding and its values towards nature. Often setting a mark for high-end wine, Boschendal is perhaps one of the reasons why South Africa is among the top wine regions in the world, proving that wine is no longer the province of the likes of France or Italy.
Boschendal is both a place and a beverage of memories. With every sip, there remains a nostalgic and wistful aftertaste that recalls the simple life of Franschhoek. With every visit to its farm, you are met with the astonishing wonders of nature, the rich ingredients of its gourmet dishes and the chic simplicity of its old and luxuriously restored accommodation. An epicurean’s dream.
The quintessential South African wine, Boschendal appeals to all of your senses. The Insider’s Yolanda ‘Mzo’ Mzozoyana had her senses charmed when she met with Shirley van Wyk, Boschendal’s marketing manager.
Throughout Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Joburg, guests had been served with nothing but the best of wines at the Boschendal bar. Among its special offerings was the Boschendal Chardonnay Pinot Noir. For an opportunity to win a luxury bottle of the Pinot Noir, guests dressed in their best attire took a picture next to the floral Boschendal Wall in the VIP Lounge, along with an interview with Yolanda at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week red carpet.
An exclusive wine tasting at the VIP Lounge was also on offer. Hosted by Shirley, the guests in attendance were some of South Africa’s most fashionably influential bloggers. One of them was Siya Beyile, the mastermind behind The Threaded Man. A man who knows sophistication and refinement in all its forms, Siya was impressed with the Boschendal experience saying, “The experience was incredible. Boschendal is on another level and they have created a lifelong fan out of me!”
