Top entertainment at the AFI Gala Dinner

Award-winning singer and songwriter, Lira had all the fashion elites from across the globe dancing to the beautiful African sounds.

African Fashion International (AFI) Gala Dinner, which also serve as the closing ceremony for the Condé Nast International Luxury Conference brought all the big guns of fashion to celebrate the beauty of Africa.

This prestigious gathering was hosted by Expresso presenter Katlego Maboe. CEO and Founder of AFI, Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe welcomed the global guests to Africa and shared the vision of AFI and its mission to take African creatives to global stages, hence its partnership with Condé Nast. Our local designers were offered an opportunity to attend the CNI Conference ahead of the Gala Dinner and network with the global leaders in the fashion industry and rub shoulder with the likes of Editor of Vogue International and fashion critic Suzy Menkes.

“Our beads and geometrics make us to become outstanding in the world. I am so that the luxury conference came to South Africa because what the international market experience in the past two days they cannot find it anywhere else in the world,” Fashion Designer David Tlale said.

The night started by the performance from the talented poet, Lebo Mashile and followed by runway shows by David Tlale, Marriane Fassler, Taibo Bacar and Gavin Rajah. The international guests tested African cuisines as the menu was setup to showcase the best dishes in the continent.

Songbird Lira closed the night with her incredible elegant sounds and got everyone on the dance floor.  Lira performed her hit songs such as Inxesha, Hamba, Feel Good and a few from her new album Born Free.
