XAFI brought the best young creatives

The future of African fashion is bright and that was proven during the first installation of Xperience AFI in Cape Town which took place on the 11 April 2019 at the White Space.

Young creatives in Cape Town had their chance to show what they are made of and they took it to another level. The show was carefully curated to showcase the best of what African young creatives had to offer, from the models on the runway, to the musician and fashion designers involved, it was a platform for the creatives of Cape Town to share their way of seeing and thinking. An opportunity for the young Capetonians to tell their story through their work and they did not hold back.

Fashion designer Lebogang Mokoko of Not Good Enough came out and showcase his street designs inspired by the colours of Cape Town. “I had a beautiful opportunity to meet and share the space with the creatives that I look up to and admire. As a creative it is all you can ask for.”

Designer Sibusiso Mahone, who has in the past showcased at the main AFI Fashion Week said it was an honour for him to showcase at the first Cape Town XAFI. “The vibe was awesome and there is a lot of youth interested in fashion and that was amazing to see, especially in their attendance. This is cool platform for the youth to showcase their creativity.”

ArtClub and Friends brought out their African inspired street style that left the audience wanting more. Designer Robyn said XAFI offered her opportunity to showcase her work and this is a start of amazing things in her career.

XAFICT19 saw music performances from music bands such as Oh Ok, Nyota and Bye Beneco. King Kotini himself, Riky Rick closed of the show with his banging hits such as Boss Zonke and Sidlúkotini.
