#MBFWCT17 Show Postponement Alert

The second day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town 2017 was regrettably cancelled. As guests arrived in anticipation of the six shows scheduled to take place this evening, the Cape winds picked up again in full force.

Guests and members of the media were calmly ushered out of the show venue for their safety, just after 6.20pm, 24th March, during the Sweetie, Kefseddy Designs and Black Trash Clothing show.

Whilst, the marquee structure is said to able to withstand strong winds up to 100km per hour, confirmed by AFI’s appointed structural engineer, AFI once again made the executive decision to postpone its shows. The David Tlale show did however continue as scheduled; offsite at The Cape Town Club at 9:30pm.
Presented with a severe safety risk once again, the protection of the people is paramount. Despite a re-evaluation of the situation and further investigations yesterday morning, following Wednesday night’s show cancellation, this unforeseeable circumstance required AFI to postpone yesterday’s proceedings at The Meadway.

Further information on show postponement will be provided as soon as it is available.
