Leigh Schubert

Leigh Schubert Brand Vision:

Having secured her position as a much loved and favoured South African brand, the focus for 2016 was to export her ethically manufactured designer pieces. She has just returned from a hugely successful trip to the USA, production is rolling, and deliveries will begin in June 2016.

Clothing DNA:

Leigh Schubert ladies-wear is timeless yet fresh, and uncomplicated yet interesting. She often plays with the contradiction of soft and hard whether in fabrics, colours or treatments. Never pretty, but always feminine, the Leigh Schubert DNA is accessible, wearable and will still always stand out in a crowd.

This collection was created as her first major export offering – so Leigh Schubert went back to the beginning, to encapsulate her brands’ true essence. Identifying the styles, throughout the past many years, that flourished, and set the stage for the collection that came after, and then after that. The evolution of the brand based on the relationship between the designer and her customer.

What transpired was a collection that once again plays with contrasts. Using crafted basket weave inspired prints from her Kwa-Zulu Natal childhood, and clashing that with computer generated geometrics. Layering the prints at times to confuse the eye of where it starts and where the garment ends, whilst maintaining very clear architecture.

At first glance the range has an earthy bohemian feel, but if you look closer you will realise the structure, simplicity and sophistication that makes up the true Leigh Schubert mainframe.
