When Anna Wintour revealed the co-chairs for the 2025 Met Gala, you could almost hear a collective sigh of relief across the fashion world.
With a theme as bold as Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, there was no room for half-measures. It had to be spot on. Luckily, it is.
The co-chairs -Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams - couldn’t be better suited for the job.
The exhibition, opening on 5 May 2025, celebrates stylish Black men and the Black Dandy in history.
So, who better to lead the charge than four men who embody this very spirit? They’re not just fashion icons; they truly understand what it means to be a dandy in today’s world.
If you need proof, just look at the cover of Vogue’s May issue. Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams each grace their cover, offering their spin on Black Dandyism.
Colman Domingo
Colman Domingo looks every bit the modern dandy in a sharp, perfectly tailored Balmain ensemble. He finished the look with a Chanel High Jewellery brooch and Magnanni shoes. The portraits, shot by Iké Udé and styled by Max Ortega, capture Colman’s effortless elegance.
Lewis Hamilton
F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton is never one to shy away from a statement. For the cover, he donned a Ferragamo suit paired with an Off-White bowtie. He adds a touch of sparkle with a Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany & Co. earring (worn as a brooch) and a Tiffany & Co. by Elsa Peretti ring. Malick Bodian’s photography, along with styling by fashion editors IB Kamara and Eric McNeal, brings Lewis’s vision of Black Dandyism to life.
A$AP Rocky
A$AP Rocky, always at the cutting edge, wears an Ozwald Boateng suit and tie, a Boss shirt, De Beers earrings, a Margot McKinney brooch, and an Audemars Piguet watch. Tyler Mitchell captures Rocky’s unique take on the theme, with styling by Law Roach.
Pharrell Williams
Pharrell Williams’s cover is a little different. He has paired with a striking artwork by Henry Taylor, Untitled (2025), acrylic on canvas. It’s a bold, artistic statement that fits right in with the Met Gala’s creative spirit.
The Met Gala is more than just a party. It’s fashion’s biggest night out, where style, art, and culture collide most spectacularly.
