Mia Le Roux to wear AFI Atelier at Miss Universe 2024

A hush fell over The Maslow Hotel as guests, both in person and online, eagerly awaited the unveiling of Miss South Africa Mia Le Roux's Miss Universe wardrobe.
Speculation had been rife about which designers she would choose for her on-stage moments, interviews, and the crucial welcome dinner.
The anticipation was palpable as Mia stepped onto the stage, and a collective applause echoed through the room.

She looked regal in the rust coloured column gown with oversized peplum. She beamed, with pride, taking in the attention as everyone applauded her. The fabric sparkled as the cameras went off.
This was just a taste of what is to come at Miss Universe next month.
The garment was one of many created by the AFI Atelier team, which was led by AFI Fastrack Prize 2023 winner, Loice Dube and AFI Fastrack Prize 2021 runner-up, Keneuoe Mhletswa. The design team was under the tutelage of the world renowned Gavin Rajah, and have created garments that Mia has in her arsenal of fashion looks at Miss Universe.

She looked every inch the queen and ready for the Miss Universe stage. She took the moment to also invite the AFI Atelier designers on stage, and gifted them with flowers, a form of appreciation for their hard over the past few weeks.
Mia is poised to make a lasting impression at the Miss Universe pageant. Her wardrobe not only showcases the talent of South African designers but also serves as a powerful statement about the country's beauty, culture, and diversity. Her fashion choices are sure to captivate audiences and leave a lasting legacy.
For her media interviews, Mia changed into her second garment, the on-trend black bubble dress with pink bows, which was a nice touch to pay homage to the fight against breast cancer.
Speaking at the farewell, Mia said she is trying not to feel too much pressure as she walks in the footsteps of previous Miss South Africa title holders on the Miss Universe stage and as the first ever deaf contestant to compete.
“I try to view this as the opportunity and experience of a lifetime where my voice can be heard and I can hopefully help to shine a light upon the blind spots of our world while carrying my beautiful country within my heart. I believe my advantage is that I have a powerful story that needs to be heard. Someone once said that I did well with Miss South Africa because of the struggle I represent. But I say I did well because of the victory I represent and I believe that is my advantage."
Mia's Farewell was attending by former Miss South Africa, Lalelwa Mswane, who was the second runner-up at Miss Universe 2021 and was crowned Miss Supranational 2022.
Also present to give her support, was Miss South Africa 2024 first runner-up, Nompumelelo Maduna, who was one of the close friends and family who sent video messages of support for Mia.
