“Forget the rules – if you like it, wear it!”
With her customers as her pillar, Stefania Morland believes that the greatest gift you can receive is the opportunity to build a career out of a passion, and her challenge in creating and growing her brand, was to apply her mind to the business of fashion, which was no easy feat.
With the creativity of design running through her veins, Stefania fell in love with fashion whilst watching her mother get dressed every day, and from her childhood, her love of fashion escalated into an expression of her creativity and passion.
Dedicated to personal service and attention to detail, her intimate establishment values all things beautiful, and offers customers an exclusive experience, as they choose garments as an extension of their inner creative selves. Stefania believes that fashion is an expression of self, and gives others their first impression of you. Inspired by her customers, family and friends, Stefania also draws inspiration from fashion icons such as Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney and Isabel Marant.
With a passion for life and a love of texture and colour, opening her store in Kloof Street was a career highlight for Stefania. Inspired by the platform of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town, Stefania’s greatest compliments come from the people wearing her garments, which is a compliment in itself. As an established designer, she also feels a great responsibility to nurture and mentor young talent into successful stars. She believes this is an opportunity to open their minds and doors into the South African industry and beyond, and she wishes she could have had the support and expertise of a mentor herself, as she had to ‘take the bull by the horns,’ so to speak, when she was starting out.
Stefania understands that every day as a designer presents new challenges, after all, as she says; ‘you’re only as good as your next frock.’ Her greatest challenge as a designer is the lack of fabric and trims, as almost all local fabric manufacturers have closed their doors over the past 30 years. Left with no option but to import fabrics and trims, this has become an exceptionally expensive exercise.
When she is not designing, Stefania can be found on her farm in Piketberg, spending time with her family.
She maintains her original design ethos with every Collection – ‘unique, playful pieces that remain classic and timeless.’
Passionately instilling beauty, quality and function into each and every design, we look forward to experiencing Stefania Morland at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town 2017 taking place from the 23rd-25th March.
