Cape Town Fashion Week: The Edit SS24, hosted by Africa Fashion International (AFI) on 30 November 2024 at the Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Racecourse is set to highlight an exceptional lineup of African luxury designers, promising a showcase of creativity and innovation.

The event will feature a dynamic mix of debuting talent, celebrated returnees, and emerging designers, reinforcing AFI's position as the premier platform for African fashion.

Six Designers Make Their Cape Town Fashion Week Debuts

This season, six  fashion designers will debut at Cape Town Fashion Week, presenting their latest collections. These are:

  • Laurence Chauvin-Buthaud of LaurenceAirline (Côte d’Ivoire)
  • Hélène Daba Diouf of Sisters of Africa (Senegal)
  • Safiétou Seck of Sarayaa (Senegal)
  • Sandi Mazibuko of House of FabroSanz (South Africa)
  • Julia Buchanan of JULIA (South Africa)
  • Bathini Kowane of Bathini Designs (South Africa)

They will join an already impressive roster of established designers, including:

  • Alia Baré of Alia Baré (Niger)
  • Papy Kaluw of Urban Zulu (Democratic Republic of Congo)
  • Londeka Buthelezi-Ndaba of Malondié (South Africa)
  • Sello Medupe of SCALO (South Africa)
  • Keletso Moraba of K.Moraba & Collective (South Africa)
  • Gavin Rajah, the globally celebrated South African designer who also serves as the creative director for the event

Adding to the anticipation, AFI’s in-house brand, AFI Privé, will debut its highly anticipated Spring/Summer 2024/25 signature collection, showcasing the pinnacle of African luxury design.

Celebrated Returns to the Cape Town Fashion Week Runway

Two celebrated designers are set to make notable returns to the AFI runway. Craig Jacobs of FUNDUDZI, one of AFI’s pioneering collaborators in 2007, returns after a 14-year hiatus. His latest collection will feature in the grand finale, offering a nostalgic yet evolved representation of his craft. 

Another exciting addition is Craig Port, the Cape Town-based designer who last showcased with AFI in 2018. His return marks a significant moment for Cape Town Fashion Week, adding further depth to the lineup.

Supporting Emerging Talent

AFI remains steadfast in its mission to nurture emerging designers. The event will shine a spotlight on the KZN Collective, a group of rising talents from KwaZulu-Natal. Additionally, the AFI Fastrack Prize 2023 finalists will unveil their finale collections, offering a glimpse into the future of African fashion.
