From the sands of the Arabian desert to the glitz and glamour of a star-studded launch event, the opening of Dubai’s new luxury hotel, Atlantis The Royal, was an unforgettable affair. The hotel itself is a sight to behold. Situated on the iconic Palm Jumeirah, it offers stunning views of the Arabian Gulf and the Dubai skyline.
The red carpet for the hotel’s grand launch was as grand as the Cannes Film Festival, with attendees ranging from the international jet to A-List celebrities and models. It was a veritable who’s who of global celebrities, with Kendall Jenner, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Nia Long, ‘Emily In Paris’ star Ashley Park, Chloe and Halle Bailey, and Liam Payne all in attendance.
And joining in on the festivities were some of South Africa’s top influencers, such as Maps Maponyane, Rich Mnisi, Thando Thabethe and Trevor Stuurman.
It’s easy for anyone attending a high-profile event like this one to feel overwhelmed and yet that wasn’t the case for the South Africans in attendance.

Famous for his knack of elevating suiting, the media personality and luxury influencer wore a suit by Ghana based brand, Brommon Atelier. The cobalt blue double-breasted suit popped against the blue carpet. He accessorised with a matching fedora with traditional Nguni shapes by Maxhosa Africa. He finished the outfit off with white sneakers.
Actor, media personality and designer, Thando Thabethe went full glam, wearing a bejewelled coral jumpsuit with a ruffled bodice by Johannesburg-based brand, Mary Zo Designs. It was the perfect high wattage look that made her stand out. We love that she wore braids.

We can always rely on the designer, a former AFI Fastrack finalist, to deliver on the red carpet. And he did just that. Rich wore a white, wide-legged suit, with a corset. The suit had interesting cut-outs, and was backless, brilliant showing off the corset. Rich accessorised with a diamond necklace by Swarovski, white sunglasses, and a silver handbag.
The photographer has always boasted an individualistic style and he went full force with a modern take on denim. The creative wore a studded denim jacket with exaggerated sleeves by Gucci. He paired the jacket with embroidered jeans, a crisp light blue shirt and cream fedora. Stuurman shot the cover image of the latest HON by AFI magazine.
